Today the grade 6 students (minus Justin who was at the dentist) went into town to pick up the Picasso Cow that we will be working on next term. It is large enough to ride but very beautiful and the children have already fallen in love with her. Our theme is three serves of dairy a day and we look forward to working on her new outfit soon. Photos to come
Friday is the disco at the Grasmere Hall and students are asked to bring a gold coin donation for the day and dress up in disco gear. The evening disco starts at 6.30 -8pm for K-2 and from 8-10pm for the 3-6 students. Should be loads of fun.
Don’t forget tomorrow is the last day for swimming and students need to wear shorts and a tshirt over their bathers if they are in P-3 and a long sleeve shirt and trousers from 4-6.
The new bus signs arrived today and they are first being trialled on the Cooramook/Mailors Flat Bus before we buy them for the big bus….pretty snazzy!!
To those of you who are still toiling away trying to work out the way forward in tipping this year, we encourage you to keep trying, and whilst you are busy at that pursuit, remember to bring in your $25 to become a paid up member of the competition. There will be a cut off date fast approaching and if your money is not paid in, your efforts may be for little reward.
Whilst the principal remains on top…at least for now. There has been a huge surge following last weeks upset. Mr Mark Bridge has become very quiet on the blogging front and rightly so as he slipped to only two wins last week. President Blue ( School Council President) has clawed his way back to second spot whilst the gap between the top and the bottom has become very very close.
Follow the link under bloggroll to see how your tips are going.
NOTICE
If you have not yet paid your $25 tip to the school or to Ros Bellman, please do so ASAP or you may end up with the nothing bracelet!!
Kim Tibbals who has been helping students out with their fine motor skills at the school over the past year left us on Monday to take up a new job with the Department of Education Early Years unit helping students at pre school age to improve their gross and fine motor skills before they get to school age. Kim is thrilled with her new position but is very sad to say goodbye to her students. Pictured above is Michael who has been very greatful for Kim’s help over the past year. Michael presented Kim with a beautiful bunch of flowers from the school as recognition for Kim’s great work. Michael did not miss out and was very happy to show off the smily face biscuit that Kim gave him for being such a great student. We wish Kim all the very best in her new position
Lachlan Nicholson, Lucas Kidd and Taylah Cook participated in their first and the schools first ever Debating Eisteddfod on Monday 27th of April and were thrilled to be the winner of their debate. They were up against a very strong and well drilled team from Merrivale Primary School debating the topic ‘that dogs are better pets than cats’. Grasmere had the affirmative team and they spoke about the various roles of dogs in society and how although they were great pets, they also have many other roles in the community which Scarface Claw the serial killer and sometimes feral cat, does not!!
The school is very proud of these three individuals and hope they are keen to pursue similar challenges in the future. Next year Grasmere may have two teams in the competition. Well done to all!!
